Chrismen Oliver
I am a native Angeleno, born and raised in South LA. As a youth, I spent lot of my childhood playing basketball at Rancho Cienega Park and skating at World on Wheels. As an adult I have resided in many areas of Los Angeles from the San Fernando Valley and Silver Lake, to Baldwin Village (aka The Jungles), and currently in CD9 Area 4.
I also work in CD9 as the Associate Director of Interim Housing for the Homeless Outreach Program Integrated Care System (HOPICS). In this role I oversee an Interim Housing department that manages multiple emergency shelter programs, providing services to both families and single adults facing homelessness.
I plan to combine my love for the city with my nonprofit experience to help guide my work to better CD9 and the neighborhoods Voices represents.
Hobbies and Interests: Playing basketball, plant-based cooking, and watching movies.
Favorite things to do in my neighborhood council district: Take my son to the park, go shopping at Ross, and hosting friends and family at my home.
3 issues that I am passionate about in my community:
- Neighborhood beautification
- Supporting our unhoused neighbors
- Expanding the nutritional resources around the community
